Microsoft Project Holiday Template

Microsoft Project is a powerful project management tool, but it's a pain to add every holiday to your calendar one by one.

To help you get started, here's a Microsoft Project calendar template with all US holidays already built in. It was created by Per A. Alm, Department of Neuroscience, Uppsala University, Sweden, after watching an instructional video by one of Gravity Learning's founders.

With the A.L.M. Template (Automated-holiday Layout Maker), you can create a project calendar that includes every US holiday, so you never accidentally plan work on a major one.

Download it, open it in Microsoft Project, and swap it in as your global calendar (Microsoft's guide to the Organizer tool walks through how). The template includes every major US holiday: Christmas, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and the rest, so you can see exactly how they land on your project schedule.

Once your calendar is customized, use it to build your project schedules and assign tasks. You'll be able to see how holidays affect your timeline before they surprise you, and adjust accordingly.
